Since I am stuck inside due to this crazy winter weather, I thought I would take some time to share a little part of my life. During this past winter break (before all this real winter weather was around), when my wife was out of school for the holidays, she wanted to begin redecorating parts of our house. I am one of those types that think “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and I am known to be a little tight with the money when it comes to things like redecorating. My wife on the other hand is just the opposite and loves the chance to be creative and change things up. Eventually I caved in to the idea of redecorating and Jess did a great job at being resourceful and instead of just buying all new things, she just repainted and added to what we already had in our house, and really did not spend too much redecorating our bedroom. The one thing we failed to do was take any before pictures to give you the full idea of what the bedroom looked like before and how it was transformed. Ooooppppssss! But I’ll attempt to describe what all my wife did to make this room super awesome.
Below. These are some zoomed out images of our whole bedroom. Jess and her mom repainted the walls (a lighter shade of gray on the outer walls and the back wall is a darker shade of gray), we got a new bed set with headboard, new demask duvet cover, throw pillows, turquoise lamps, and an assortment of picture frames.

102 votesvote as favoriteJessica bought some drapes for our bedroom. Before it was just an empty windowsill, it was sad, but now it looks much better. My wife made this picture frame on the right. She actually remade this whole piece, it used to be red/pink and in our living room but she decided to redo it and put it in our bedroom. She already had the metal hook and all she had to do was repaint it as well. Not to shabby!

She also went out and bought some nice turquoise knobs to finish them off. She went to Pier One to buy the turquoise colored lamps.

Jessica spray painted a metallic finish to the dresser and add some more turquoise knobs to make it match the rest of the room. Jessica got a gift card to Pier One for Christmas so she was able to buy some cool accessories for the bedroom, like the big glass mirror and the jewelry stand in the right image. Jessica was in love with that mirror and I am a big fan of it now that I see it on our wall.

104 votesvote as favoriteThis orange candle chandelier has been with us for a long time and up until this redecoration it has just been sitting on the floor. Jess was determined to use it and put it up on this side of our bedroom. I think it really pops against the gray walls! I also love the single cross she placed on the wall. We have plenty of crosses around the house to be able to make a cross wall, but I love that she kept it simple.
111 votesvote as favoriteI actually have no idea where any of this stuff came from in the picture below, haha. I think it is better left unknown for my sake, although I think my mother in law may have helped providing some of this stuff. The books we already owned and Jessica just bought a whole bunch of scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby and decoupaged them. I love the birdcage accessory she added to the bench as well. May have to use that for a future shoot?
107 votesvote as favoriteBelow is one of my favorite things Jess transformed for our new bedroom, our huge Armour! This things is a beast, and it used to look really dated and old. Jess did a great job crackling it and giving it a more modern/rustic feel to it. She got a ton of scrapbook paper for this thing and decoupaged it up and she finished it off by spray painting the handles turquoise.
